1. Project Scope & Strategy I was selected to lead scriptwriting for commercial and marketing videos for Enso, an FDA-cleared pain relief device, based on my extensive experience writing in-app educational content about the device. The videos needed to serve two distinct audiences: B2C members who needed to understand the device and overcome hesitations about onboarding, and B2B benefits leaders evaluating whether to offer the company benefit to their employees. My challenge was to create scripts that were simultaneously persuasive, educational, and compliant — all within 60-second constraints. I began by identifying the core messages that would resonate with both audiences: how the device works, its clinical efficacy, ease of use, and value proposition.
2. Script Development Drawing on my deep knowledge of the device's clinical applications and user concerns, I crafted initial script drafts that distilled complex medical device functionality into accessible, compelling narratives. The 60-second time constraint required ruthless prioritization — every word needed to serve multiple purposes: building trust, addressing objections, explaining benefits, and driving action. I focused on translating clinical evidence into relatable outcomes while maintaining the precision and accuracy required for FDA-regulated medical device marketing.
3. Regulatory & Legal Review Like all Enso-related content, these scripts required navigation through rigorous legal and regulatory approval processes. I submitted drafts through multiple review cycles with clinical teams to verify medical accuracy, legal teams to ensure regulatory compliance and appropriate claim substantiation, and regulatory affairs to confirm alignment with FDA requirements and approved device labeling. Each stakeholder group provided feedback that often required balancing competing priorities — marketing wanted compelling language, legal wanted conservative claims, and regulatory needed exact consistency with approved materials. I managed multiple iterations, carefully revising scripts to satisfy all requirements while preserving the core message and emotional resonance.
4. Cross-Functional Production Collaboration Once scripts cleared regulatory and legal review, I entered an intensive collaborative phase with the production team. Working closely with visual designers, video editors, creative directors, animation experts, and brand/marketing content strategists, I participated in multiple rounds of refinement. The team would storyboard my scripts, and I'd revise language to better align with visual concepts. Animation capabilities influenced word choice and pacing. Brand strategists ensured tonal consistency across campaigns. This required constant iteration — adjusting scripts as visual elements evolved, tightening language when timing ran long, and sometimes advocating to preserve critical clinical accuracy when creative suggestions veered into non-compliant territory.
5. Final Delivery & Implementation After extensive cross-functional collaboration and final sign-off from all stakeholders, the completed videos launched on product landing pages and in business development materials. The scripts successfully balanced regulatory compliance with persuasive storytelling, addressing user hesitations while conveying clinical credibility. These assets served dual purposes — helping prospective members understand and adopt the device while providing benefits leaders with compelling evidence to bring Enso to their employee populations.
